Ontario PNP: Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)

Dream Abroad. Conquer With Us.
For immigrants coming to Canada, Ontario is the most well-liked entry point.

Nearly 40% of all Canadians reside in Ontario, the province with the highest population in the country. Toronto, Canada’s largest city, and Ottawa, its capital, are both located in Ontario. The most popular destination for immigrants to Canada is by far Ontario. One-third of all new arrivals arrive in the province each year. Ontario’s job prospects, high income, and diversified population attracted people to settle there. In actuality, more than half of Toronto’s population is non-Canadian.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is the name of Ontario’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

Ontario Immigration Categories

If you wish to immigrate to Ontario, then you have three categories to choose from:

  • Human Capital Category
  • Masters or Ph.D. Category
  • Employer Job Offer Category
  • Business Category.

Tradespeople, bilingual skilled employees, and skilled workers with skills in French fall under the Human Capital Category. It also applies to foreign graduates holding a Master’s or Ph.D. from a university in Ontario. To apply under this category, no employment offer is necessary.

Candidates who have an eligible job offer in Ontario from an employer who is prepared to nominate them fall under the employer job offer category.

Human Capital Category

Two sub-streams make up the Human Capital Category itself. The Ontario Express Entry program is one. This substream’s programs are improved. They are therefore connected to the Express Entry program.

The following programs fall into the Human Capital Category: Ontario Express Entry sub-stream:

  • Human Capital Priorities: This category includes the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
  • Skilled Trades: For individuals with relevant Ontario work experience in an eligible trade occupation.
  • French-Speaking Skilled Worker: This program operates, like Human Capital Priorities, through FSWP and CEC. Applicants for French-speaking Skilled Worker must have strong skills in both French and English.

You will be informed if you are nominated through Ontario Express Entry. You, the candidate, will then have the option of accepting or rejecting the nomination. You receive 600 more CRS points for accepting the nomination. This indicates that you will be given an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the upcoming Express Entry draw for all programs.

Minimum Requirements:

The following are the minimum requirements needed to be eligible through one of the streams under the Human Capital Category:

  • Must have enough money to support yourself and your family.
  • Must intend to live in Ontario
Master’s and Ph.D. Category

The following programs are not aligned with Express Entry. An applicant must create a profile and register an expression of interest (EOI):

  • Masters Graduate Stream: For individuals who received Masters degrees from an Ontario University
  • PhD Graduate Stream: For individuals who received a Ph.D. from an Ontario University.

Note: The Master’s Graduate Stream and the Ph.D. Graduate Stream both use Ontario’s Expression of Interest (EOI) system.

Employer Job Offer Category

The following three programs exist under the Employer Job Offer Category:

  • Foreign worker stream: for skilled workers;

  • Must have work experience, license, or other authorization that is required to perform the job

Regional Immigration Pilot in Ontario

The Employer Job Offer Category operates as a subset of the Regional Immigration Pilot. In order to fill labor shortages in rural and small areas in Ontario, the pilot program helps to attract and retain immigrants. Additionally, it helps these towns’ economies expand.

People who have received a job offer from a company in a pilot community are eligible for this pilot. There are 150 nomination slots available in Ontario for 2021.

The Ontario Regional Immigration Pilot consists of three pilot communities:

  • City of Cornwall,
  • Chatham-Kent,
  • Cities of Belleville and Quinte West.

If you want to immigrate to Ontario via its Regional Immigration Pilot, you must meet the following requirements:

  • possess a job offer for a full-time, long-term position from an employer in one of the pilot villages
  • satisfy the requirements of a stream for employer job offers.

An Expression of Interest (EOI) must first be registered if you want to apply for the pilot. You will be questioned about whether you want to apply through the Regional Immigration Pilot when you do this.
