Parent Super Visa

Dream Abroad. Conquer With Us.

With effect from July 4, 2022, the Super Visa enables parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to visit the country once for up to five years in a row without having to reapply for status.
Grandparents and parents are permitted to remain in Canada for an extended period. Super Visas have a maximum 10-year validity period.

What is the Super Visa for Parents and Grandparents?

After July 4, 2022, qualifying parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be able to visit their relatives in Canada for up to five years without needing to reapply for their status thanks to the Super Visa. Those who already possess a Super Visa may seek an extension, which might allow them to stay in Canada as a tourist for up to 7 years. Grandparents and parents are permitted numerous entries into Canada for a maximum of ten years with the Super Visa. Prior to July 4, 2022, the Super Visa program permitted up to two-year stays in Canada.

Similar to the Parents and Grandparents Program, the Super Visa includes year-round availability and minimum income restrictions.

For parents and grandparents who reside in nations where a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is necessary to enter Canada, the Super Visa is the best option. They won’t have to worry about or deal with the trouble of routinely reapplying for a TRV once they have the Super Visa, which will allow them to travel freely between Canada and their home country.

The same application procedure may be used by anyone who wish to apply but do not need a TRV in order to enter Canada. However, instead of receiving a visa at the time of entry, they will receive a formal letter from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) authorizing their stay for up to two years.

Who Can Apply for the Super Visa?

The Super Visa may be applied for by parents or grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents. The candidates must meet any requirements outlined by the visa office through which they will be applying, and they cannot be denied entry to Canada due to security or health concerns.

It is significant to remember that this application cannot include any dependents. Only parents or grandparents and their spouses or common-law partners may be listed on a Super Visa application.

What is the procedure for applying for a Super Visa?

The application procedure is the same as for a standard TRV. To guarantee that the parents and grandparents will be appropriately supported during their stay in Canada, further documentation is needed. This prerequisite entails:

  • An invitation letter from a grandchild or child living in Canada
  • Documents demonstrating that the grandchild or child satisfies the Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) level
  • Evidence of the parent’s kinship to the kid or grandchild, such as a birth certificate naming the parent
  • Proof of a Canadian insurance company’s medical insurance coverage for at least a year.

What criteria must the sponsor meet in order to be eligible for a Super Visa?

The kid or grandchild who is inviting their parents or grandparents must demonstrate that their home satisfies the necessary Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) in order to be eligible for a Super Visa.

One or more of the following documents could be used as proof:

  1. A T4/T1 for the most current tax year, or a Notice of Assessment (NOA)
  2. Stubs for employment insurance
  3. A letter of employment outlining the pay and hiring date;
  4. paychecks or Bank records.
